Sales Engineering instructions

The need to relocate SCR components has increased now that the vehicles are now arriving at bodybuilders, therefore these Sales Engineering instructions relate to both Euro 4 OBD1+ and  Euro 5 OBD1+ chassis’s on how to move the Ad-blue and fuel tanks by body builders or converters.

Please Note

If any electrical connections on the Exhaust after Treatment system are to be separated during the movement of these components on the chassis, the following guidelines must be followed:-

The cab doors must be shut and wait for the interior lights to dim out, the battery leads should then be removed.

If these precautions are not followed then fault codes in the ECU’s will be generated, to clear these codes means a DAF dealer will have to come to the bodybuilder location to clear these faults with the diagnostic tool.

These costs may be charged to the bodybuilder as a result of not following these guidelines.

Please find the guidelines below

  • All attachments made to the chassis frame must be made with flanged nuts and bolts.
  • The diesel tank is no different to the Euro 3 chassis type, and can be relocated as before.
  • All pipe lengths that are increased with the new tank positions must have replacement pipes fitted of the correct length and diameter.
  • The maximum distance between the dosing unit and the Ad-blue tank is 2.5m.
  • The route of the pipes must not trap air if the Ad-blue level is low.
  • The pipe piping should have a fall on it from the Pump module to either the dosing unit on CF or the injector on LF.
  • No pipe joiners or metal fittings are to be used.

LF Series

CF / XF Series

Useful Part Numbers for CF & XF105.

  • 1625421 Elbow quick-acting White
  • 1667133 Elbow quick-acting Black
  • 1399869 10m Pipe.

The only changes allowed with the electrical wiring, is to extend the wiring to the Ad-blue and fuel tank sender units. These connections should be suitably protected from the elements and corrosion.

The vertical position of the Ad blue tanks must not change when they are repositioned on the CF and LF chassis frame. On the LF series the dosing unit can be raised up to 400mm above the top of the chassis frame.

The exhaust tail pipe position can be changed as long as this does not increase the exhaust gas backpressure.
