Ponta Grossa is a perfect place to live but also to learn. The city has several elementary schools, both public and private. Two universities, Estadual de Ponta Grossa Universade and Federal Technological University of Paraná (specialized in Agricultural, Mechanics and Electro) have developed the city into one of the main Centers of Knowledge.

Ponta Grossa is well-known for its festivals. In November and December, a national stout festival, called Münchenfest, is held. This lasts for ten days and attracts over 100,000 visitors every year. Ponta Grossa is situated on an enormous vast plateau, more than 100 km wide, with the famous Parque Estadual da Vila Velha at 15 km from the city. Also in the Campos region is the Canyon Guatela State Park, the world’s sixth in extension and the biggest of Brazil, with the 200 meters high Pedra Waterfall. A great place for hiking.

In the area of Ponta Grossa are lots of sport opportunities. The city has different clubs like the Ponta Grossa Golf Clube and of course its own soccer club. Operário Ferroviário Esporte Clube has a soccer stadium for 13,000 supporters. The building of a new state-of-the-art Sport Arena will be realized.

Real soccer fans will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the FIFA World Championship. In 2014 this will be held in the state Paraná in the stadium of Curitiba.
